Android 4.4 KitKat may run the Sony Xperia Z2 which will be out in October 2013. It is expected to include 4G LTE connectivity, all-new exclusive Sony applications, new additions to the camera features, improved ecosystem and more.

3.      Exclusive Android cloud-based storage and syncing system
4.      Wider global coverage and network compatibility

8.      Enhanced battery standby time
9.      Relatively lightweight on the RAM
10.    Easy to obtain updates
Better Performance with Bigger RAM
Sony Xperia Z1 features 2GB of RAM which is common among flagship smartphones today but Sony wants to make it bigger on the Xperia Z2 with 3GB of RAM to match the Galaxy Note 3 and the rumoured Nexus 5’s memory.
Sony will likely to combine the 3GB of RAM with Android 4.4 KitKat and Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon S800 System-on-a-Chip processor for more power and better multi-tasking. Xperia Z2 Avatar would be faster, more responsive and more smoother compared to the Xperia Z1.
The Xenon Flash
The camera lens is similar with the 20.7MP on the Xperia Z1 except that Xperia Z2 will use Xenon flash instead of the LED. In photography, Xenon and LED flash differs from each other which features both pros and cons.
LED Flash Pros: Lower voltage for low power consumption, can be minimised far more than xenon technology for thinner smartphones, cheaper to manufacture and install.
LED Flash Cons: LED flashes less bright compared to Xenon which leads to lower image quality.
Xenon Flash Pros: Bursts brighter than LED, longer flash range, reduces image blur on night shots, significantly less noise in images.
Xenon Flash Cons: Shutter speed may increase theoretically, consumes more power than LED, adds some bulk on the device.
Improved Pixel Density
Sony Xperia Z2 is rumoured to have 506ppi pixel density which is a little bit higher to the 441ppi of Xperia Z1. PPI or pixel per inch measures the resolution of devices in various contexts such as computer displays, image scanners and digital camera image sensors.
According to Google Android developer documentation, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean supports 640 dots per inch which makes 4K resolution possible. Android 4.4 KitKat may even support higher pixel density for smartphones and tablets.
  • Low density: 120 dots per inch
  • Medium density: 160 dots per inch
  • High density: 240 dots per inch
  • Extra high density: 320 dots per inch
  • Extra extra high density: 460 dots per inch
  • Extra extra extra high density: 640 dots per inch
Similar with printing and scanning images, high pixel density will bring vivid, clearer, more accurate image display on the device which is expected on Xperia Z2.
Release Date
Las Vegas, Nevada seems the location for the Sony Xperia Z2 announcement in 2014. CES event is one of the most anticipated for the tech world which is also rumoured for Samsung Galaxy S5 initial appearance.
Another event is the Mobile World Congress 2014, one month after the Consumer Electronics Show or CES in Barcelona, Spain. Sony could engage on both dates for their upcoming mid-range Xperia smartphones and the next-generation flagship carrier.
